Descripción
2002 Winnebago Chieftain – Workhorse Chassis – 8.1L Vortec V8 – Allison Automatic – Only 36,000 Miles – Dual Slides
This 2002 Winnebago Chieftain is a very well-kept Class A motorhome with only approximately 36,000 miles. It runs and drives great and presents extremely well for a coach of this age, both inside and out.
One of the biggest highlights of this Chieftain is its proven Workhorse drivetrain. It is powered by the GM Vortec 8100 8.1L V8 gasoline engine, producing approximately 340 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, paired with the Allison 1000 Series 5-speed automatic transmission.
The 8.1L Vortec is a 496-cubic-inch big-block V8 that was widely used in heavy-duty Workhorse motorhome applications. Paired with the Allison transmission, it is a desirable gasoline Class A drivetrain combination.
With only approximately 36,000 miles, this coach has relatively low mileage for its age. It starts easily, runs strong, shifts properly, and drives down the road very well. This motorhome is roadworthy and ready to be driven.
CONDITION
As you can see in the photos, this motorhome appears to have been very well cared for.
The interior is clean and presents very nicely for a 2002 coach. The ceiling shows zero visible signs of water damage, and we encourage buyers to look closely through the photos and judge the condition for themselves.
The roof is also in great condition, and we found no visible delamination on the coach. The exterior presents well overall, and the tires are in good condition.
Both slide-outs have been tested and operate properly with no known mechanical issues.
TITLE HISTORY
This motorhome carries a salvage title due to a theft claim.
The salvage branding is related to the theft history rather than a collision or major structural damage claim. As shown in the photos, the coach remains in very nice overall condition and runs and drives great.
KNOWN ISSUE / CONTROL PANEL DISCLOSURE
The main coach control/monitor panel located near the bathroom is missing.
Because the original control panel is missing, the bedroom slide-out is currently operated using a separate non-OEM switch. The bedroom slide has been tested and operates properly with no known issues; it simply does not use the original factory switch.
The main slide-out operates properly using its normal controls.
SYSTEMS DISCLOSURE
The house systems and appliances have NOT been tested.
Buyers should not assume that items such as the generator, air conditioning, refrigerator, furnace, water heater, plumbing, electrical accessories, or other coach systems have been tested unless specifically stated otherwise.
The engine, transmission, driving operation, and both slide-outs have been evaluated as described above.
WHY THIS COACH STANDS OUT
The combination of only approximately 36,000 miles, the Workhorse chassis, 8.1L Vortec big-block V8, Allison automatic transmission, and dual-slide floorplan makes this an appealing older Class A motorhome.
More importantly, this does not present like a heavily neglected coach. The interior is clean, the ceiling shows no visible signs of water intrusion, the roof is in great condition, there is no visible delamination, both slide-outs operate properly, and the motorhome runs and drives great.
The theft-related salvage title gives someone an opportunity to purchase a well-kept, low-mileage Class A motorhome at a significant discount compared with similar clean-title coaches.
We are a dealership based in Utah and acquire motorhomes and RVs from throughout the United States. We have recently begun offering select units through auction, giving buyers the opportunity to purchase units like this directly and determine their own value.
For someone looking for an affordable Class A motorhome with low mileage, a desirable gasoline drivetrain, dual slides, and a very well-kept interior, this Winnebago Chieftain represents a tremendous amount of motorhome for the money.
